Travis Scott Premieres New Collab With Kid Cudi

La Flame’s highly anticipated Fortnite concert brought many surprises.

When Travis Scott was set to give a Fortnite concert from his “Astronomical Tour,” fans were more than a little excited. Perhaps severely lacking entertainment in quarantine is what fueled the frenzy that the announcement of the concert presented, but it didn’t stop there. Fans were elated when, during the concert, Scott, also known as “La Flame,” teased fans with the release of a new single with veteran rapper and Scott’s personal idol, Kid Cudi, titled “The Scotts.”

The song, which begins with Scott’s signature improvised yeah’s and a beat that’s reflective of the vibe that accompanied his Astrotour album, was debuted towards the end of his Fornite performance. Staying thematically on brand with the concert, the song featured graphics that beckoned to the era before video games were as refined as CGI and gave fans some much-needed childhood nostalgia.

The single cover art, which features a neon bubble lettering of the single’s title, “The Scotts,” was penned by the artist Brian Donnelly. Often going by the name KAWS, Donnelly is best known for the wacky cartoon character motifs he uses in his art, a tread that connects his latest works, including his latest venture for Scott and Cudi.

A far cry from Cudi’s first single and breakout song that led him to fame, “Day ‘N’ Nite,” his feature on Scott’s most recent musical endeavor matches the trademark energy and intensity of his musical counterpart, La Flame. We’re hoping for more surprises and collabs from this not so unusual pairing.
