Travis Scott Shares RAD Award With Howard University Student

He also surprised the student with a scholarship.

Rapper and songwriter Travis Scott is the latest recipient of the RAD Impact Award, given to acknowledge inspirational celebrities. He is sharing his award with Raquel Simpson, a Howard University student. Simpson is the first of several students from a historically Black college or university who will also receive a scholarship through Scott’s RAD award and his Cactus Jack Foundation.

Scott’s charity, Cactus Jack Foundation, aims to enrich the lives of young people through education and access to resources. “This award means the world to me because we get to share the power of education!” he wrote in an Instagram post.

RAD, a female-founded advocacy group, has previously honored celebrities such as Charlize Theron, Margot Robbie, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Laverne Cox. It is helmed by philanthropists Carineh Martin and Arianne Phillips. So far, they have supported more than 50 charities through their celebrity-partnered campaigns.
