An unprecedented Jean Michel Basquiat exhibition is coming to the Barbican in London, immersing art fans alike in the lifetime and work of the late-American artist in the largest ever collection that the U.K. has ever seen.

The exhibit, "Basquiat: Boom For Real," opened earlier this month on Sept. 21 and is set to run until early 2018, closing on Jan. 28. Featuring over 100 pieces from the legendary artist, the display highlights the vast, yet tragically short lived career, of the graffiti and expressionist visionary who forever changed post-punk and hip-hop culture, putting the downtown New York art scene on the map.

Aside from the monumental visual selection, the showing also features archival footage and photography chronicling Basquiat's lifetime and artistic experience, associating in the same influential circles as creators like Andy Warhol and Keith Haring, becoming the pop culture icon that he is remembered to be.

Before you make your trip to the Barbican, or if you can't make it to London before Jan. 28, watch a clip below from the museum featuring rare footage of Basquiat explaining his ascent into the arts world and taking to his concrete canvas.
