Virgil Abloh Redesigns Louis Vuitton’s Classic Tambour Watch

Drawing direct influence from Abloh’s splashy apparel designs, Tambour Damier Graphite Race features a black watch face with striking green geometric lines.

With a history of injecting bold hues into Louis Vuitton’s collections, Virgil Abloh returns to his roots with LV’s latest Tambour watch. Introduced 18 years ago, the Tambour put Louis Vuitton on the map as being a watchmaking ‘maison.’ This year’s version is no different as Creative Director Virgil Abloh puts his own spin on their classic timepiece.

Crafted from graphite-black PVD and enclosed in a smoked gray sapphire case back, the watch juxtaposes statement styling (characteristic of Abloh) with the timepiece’s traditional mechanism. Gaston-Louis Vuitton’s V signature enlightens the entire dial, adding a modern twist. Fashioned with a black strap, which can be swapped for a bold tonal green version, the Graphite Damier patterns accent the ebony black watch face.

Available in two styles (41.5 mm diameter automatic and 46 mm diameter chronograph), the watch prices begin at $5,750. Available on Louis Vuitton’s website.
