Whispers of an upcoming sneaker collab between Pyrex veteran (and now Off-White frontman) Virgil Abloh and Nike have been echoing through the streetwear community for quite a while now. Images of pieces from the collection, including a reworked Air Jordan 1 and an amended version of 2017's Vapormax have leaked over the past few months, and Abloh himself has been seen multiple times wearing prototypes of the new designs.

No official comments about a release date (or even whether or not the shoes would actually be available to anyone who isn't, like, Kanye West) were made by Nike or Abloh until yesterday.

Images of the ten silhouettes have been released on Nike's website, and the redesign goes much further than we imagined. It isn't as if Abloh slapped Off-White branding on exclusive colorways of the silhouettes and released them with full confidence they'd sell for 1000% of the original cost on the resell market (which he totally could've), but the collection thoughtfully reinterprets the original designs in a way that makes every shoe a completely separate entity from its paradigm model. The redesigns feature an unfinished aesthetic that explores what it means to create an iconic silhouette to begin with. They represent a self-reflective exploration of The Sneaker as an art form, a type of wearable sculpture that Abloh likens to the Mona Lisa or Michelangelo's David.

We're not just talking about Air Maxes and classic J's either. The collection includes Prestos, Blazers, Zoom Vaporflys, and even Chuck Taylors. They'll all be on view in Nikes' "OFF CAMPUS" pop-ups in NYC and London in September, with the first five of the line pre-releasing the same month and the full collection dropping in November.
