VMAN EXCLUSIVE: Inside Timothée Chalamet’s Star-Studded Dinner Party at the Venice Film Festival

VMAN gets the best seat in the house as the actor celebrates the arrival of ‘Dune’ and his new friendship with Cartier in Venetian style.

By now, your social feeds must be filled with endless photos of A-list stars making their big social comebacks of the year, as they galavant on the red carpet, clad in designer ensembles at this year’s 78th Venice Film Festival where the years’ most highly anticipated films are celebrated with showstopping premieres and must-attend bashes.

Although the Venice Film Festival was never infamous for its parties—the Veneziani are all about subtle glamour and elusive luxury, which is why Mostra still has an incredibly attractive mystery surrounding it. Nevertheless, THE party of the festival was held  September 4th on the magical rooftop of the historical Palazzo Gritti, which dates all the way back to the 14th century.

Our guest of honor for the bash hosted by Cartier? None other than cinema and fashion darling Timothée Chalamet. It’s no surprise that Timothée knows a thing or two about style and how to organize a private party that perfectly ties in shy Venice and the world of blockbuster celebrities. The Gritti Palace Hotel was not an accidental choice—after all this is the most famous hotel in Venice. Known to be the birthplace of Hemingway-style risotto and the favorite hotel of notable figures like Elizabeth Taylor, Grace Kelly, and even Winston Churchill. To celebrate his new movie Dune, which premiered the night before at Lido and was met with standing ovations for his performance, and his official announcement as friend of the epochal luxury Maison Cartier, Timothée threw a night to remember!

In the days that preceded the soiree, the hallways in all of Venice’s top hotels and restaurants were buzzing about this unique affair as the guest list was carefully and thoroughly curated by Chalamet himself. The final result? A spectacular summer night on a fairytale rooftop overlooking the Grand Canal with guests such as cinema legends Edward Norton, Isabelle Huppert, director Luca Guadagnino, iconic composer Hans Zimmer, actors Maude Apatow, Lexi Underwood, Rami Malek, Cynthia Erivo, director Chloé Zhao (fresh off this year’s Oscar win for best director and picture), fellow Dune cast members Oscar Isaac and Stellan Skarsgård, fashion designers Pierpaolo Piccoli and Haider Ackermann, and many more who enjoyed a DJ set list which was also prepared in advance by Timothée. We all know he is a master actor and style icon of his generation but Timothée should add one more specialty to his CV: he can throw one heck of a party, and VMAN was there to witness it!
