Vroom Vroom: 2020 SSC Tuatara

Calling all speed racers!

North American hypercar manufacturer SSC just released a new, limited-edition set of wheels: the 2020 Tuatara, a stunning, state-of-the-art vehicle claiming to reach top speeds “well over 300 MPH.”

This Guinness World Record-holding car creator had blueprints for the Tuatara in the works since 2010, and ten years later, those plans have finally come into fruition. The Tuatara is equipped with a 5.8-liter V8 engine containing twin turbochargers that ultimately allow the car to reach such incredibly high speeds. SSC’s designer Jason Castriota ensures the car’s commitment to safety at dauntingly fast speeds with the inclusion of “a class-leading 0.279 drag coefficient.” Paired to a CIMA 7 speed transmission, the Tuatara’s record-breaking engine can shift gears in under 100 milliseconds.

Aside from its incredibly impressive interior, the 2020 Tuatara boasts an ultramodern exterior, presenting a carbon fiber skin atop masterful butterfly doors. Drivers up to 6’5” wearing a helmet can comfortably enjoy the user-focused cabin, where a sleek touchscreen system provides “multiple driving modes, tire pressures, complete diagnostics, climate control, music, and more.” A vehicle armed with the industry’s highest level of technology, I think it’s safe to say that driving the SSC 2020 Tuatara is an experience truly like no other.
