Shown at CES 2020, Mercedes-Benz debuted its latest VISION concept car titled VISION AVTRAlso known as ADVANCED VEHICLE TRANSFORMATION, the futuristic car drew inspiration from James Cameron’s 2009 mega-successful film, Avatar. After releasing short teaser videos on Instagram, the German automobile brand finally announced its partnership with the Avatar franchise and unveiled the model at CES 2020 keynote in Las Vegas.

Based on the structure of the “one-bow” design of the predecessor model VISION EQR, Chief Design Officer of MB, Gorden Wagener designed the new model as a hybrid of new-age technology and sustainable production. The AVTR features graphene-based battery cell technology, which replaces Lithium-Ion batteries with compostable materials, creating a recyclable battery that practices no waste. The interior of the cars was also made with sustainability in mind, using vegan DINAMICA leather and Rattan wood for the panels.

Jon Landau, the producer of the Avatar franchise, states “Not only is it beautifully designed, but it will create a closer connection with the driver and the environment around them. One that hopefully results in a better understanding of our responsibility to the world in which we live,”.
