Walk the Talk: Gucci x DETROIT VS. EVERYBODY 2.0

Gucci’s second iteration with DETROIT VS. EVERYBODY supports Tommey Walker’s vision of increasing representation in the industry through Gucci’s Changemakers’ Impact Fund

Gucci continues its pioneering partnership with one of the world’s most diverse and creative cities to celebrate the opening of Gucci’s Downtown Detroit boutique and Detroit Month of Design. In addition, the luxury brand launches the second chapter of collaboration with Detroit designer Tommey Walker. Walker’s homegrown label, DETROIT VS. EVERYBODY, embodies Detroit’s pride and unapologetic spirit. The limited-edition capsule, exclusive to the Detroit Library Street Store location, comes from Gucci Off The Grid, a collection featuring recycled, organic, bio-based, and sustainably sourced materials designed for those mindful of their environmental impact. 

The second iteration from the Detroit native highlights custom DETROIT VS. EVERYBODY patches featured on GUCCI’s Off the Grid collection. Additionally, the limited edition collection will include a baseball hat, backpack, and belt bag, all to be sold exclusively at the Detroit store beginning September 8th. Designed for those mindful of their environmental impact, the collection celebrates the connection between Gucci and Walker, supporting Tommey’s vision of increasing representation in the industry through Gucci’s Changemakers’ Impact Fund. 

“I am even more excited by and proud of my 2.0 collaboration with Gucci as Gucci continues to walk the talk; and now demonstrating its long-term commitment to Detroit as a changemaker in its own right,” Tommey Walker states.

Gucci teams up with a local Detroit production house to accompany the second collection to produce a short video anthem spotlighting Detroit through the lens of the organic pattern that makes up the city’s fabric. Tommy Walker narrates throughout, speaking on the sustainable and sentimental collection while cruising through the streets in a vintage Gucci Cadillac Seville. 

Using Gucci’s fabric, raw materials, and the VS. EVERYBODY graphic, the collaboration intertwines Italian craftsmanship and Detroit’s industrialist savoir-faire. Items from the DVE 2.0 collection retail between $450 and $2,100 and are available exclusively at Gucci’s downtown Detroit boutique.
