Wales Bonner and adidas Originals return for their fourth collaboration, Black Sunlight. The Spring/Summer 2022 collection takes inspiration from Adidas’ archive while also focusing on styles from the 70s and 80s. 

Known for being informed by cultural research and the intention of addressing the politics of identity, designer Grace Wales Bonner does not hold back in celebrating West African heritage. Rich with warm tones and the flair of the sportswear label’s three stripes, the London-based label takes from Burkina Faso circa the 70s and 80s, inspired by the photography and music produced in the country. 

Shot by the duo Jalan and Jibril Durimel, the collection offers a lens to the creative individuality expressed during this period, introducing athletic jacquard knitwear and a new Seventies-inspired take on the classic WB Track Top and Track Pants. Footwear is given the same elevation treatment as the Wales Bonner Samba makes a return, while two new iterations of the adidas Country sneaker are given a bright update. 

The adidas Originals by Wales Bonner Spring/Summer 2022 collection is available globally on June 4th on adidas Confirmed and through select retailers.
