The Weeknd’s adoption of his new alter ego character Starboy has already taken an intense turn. Today, the artist released the video for his latest single, “False Alarm,” off his upcoming album, Starboy, and watching it feels like you’ve just watched your gamer friend play a speed round of Halo.

The violent clip, directed by Ilya Naishuller, is shot entirely in first person view with one seemingly continuous and fast-paced shot. It follows a group of robbers as they begin a bloody bank robbery and ensue in a high-speed police chase. A poor lost woman gets taken hostage in the heist and is put through sheer torture, resulting in the powerful yet puzzling ending.

Despite how ridiculous the video sounds on paper, it compliments the song’s rowdy nature very well, giving visual resonance to its electro-punk beats and The Weeknd’s unhinged screams. It also fits with the album campaign’s cinematic visuals. It’s one of the more original and well-executed music videos that we have seen as of late—just get past your dizziness and watch it again.
