What VMEN Want: OMEGA’S Next Moonwatch

OMEGA’s newest Speedmaster Moonwatch proves that the moon’s the limit this spring
The saying “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind” may have crystallized humanity’s first steps on the moon, but for OMEGA, this phrase also echoes the most important moment in the house’s (and horology) history. During the Apollo 11 mission in 1969, the Speedmaster became the first watch on the moon, earning its place as a symbol of precision and resilience. More than half a century later, that legacy continues with two new Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional editions that reinterpret the iconic chronograph.

The new models retain the Moonwatch’s signature 42 mm case and essential step dial construction, now transformed through a striking inverted dial design and composed of a double plate for added depth and contrast, with the top dial layer appearing in polished black with a varnished and lacquered finish delivering a rich sheen, while rhodium-plated frames define the subdials. Beneath, a white base layer with matching lacquered treatment creates a sharp visual reversal, echoed by white minute tracks on the main dial and black minute tracks within the subdials. This black-and-white interplay further pushes the modernization of the familiar Moonwatch aesthetic, creating a new chapter worthy of its lunar legacy.
