2022 is a year of celebration for both Y-3 and Real Madrid. The year marks the 120th anniversary of the soccer club, as well as the 20th anniversary of the partnership between Y-3 creator Yohji Yamamoto and Adidas. Both organizations have pushed the boundaries of their respective fields, and continue to innovate. In honor of both of milestones, Y-3 and Real Madrid join forces for the second time to bring a celebratory collection of on and off-pitch apparel and accessories.  

Y-3 and Real Madrid made their collaboration debut for the Real Madrid third kit for the 2014/15 season. For the new collection, the pair expand for a broader range that focuses on the combination of dynamism and speed. It combines sporting innovation with avant garde motifs, to create staple and stylish soccer pieces. 

The collection includes a fourth kit, a goalkeeper kit, a warm up top, jacket, pants, t-shirt, scarf, and wash bag. The fourth kit sports white accents, while the goalkeeper kit pulls attention with its pink coloring. Both feature Y-3 branding, “hand painted” stripes, numbers, and names. The warm up top is compliments the Light Shell Anthem Jacket and Pants, which feature reflective prints and laser cut details. Black t-shirts sport the Real Madrid crest and the Y-3 logo on the back, while the scarf and wash bag feature black and white accents similar to the fourth kit. 

The name of the campaign is ‘The Ceremony’, and it takes inspiration from Yamamoto’s black aesthetic. ‘The Ceremony’ shares the vision of two lovers who walk into the future, guided by their past. A congregation of observers join the lovers. Players from the Real Madrid men’s and women’s first teams, and Real Madrid legend, Iker Casillas, make up the observers. 

The collection launches on March 18. It’s available for purchase through the Adidas website, Y-3 stores, and Real Madrid retail locations.
