Y/PROJECT Brings The Funk For Fall/Winter 2022 Collection
The brand’s new fall/winter 2022 collection personifies Glenn Matten’s vision featuring Gaultier as part of their upcoming collab.
Y/PROJECT just debuted their fall/winter 2022 collection at Paris Fashion Week. The men’s and womenswear collection spanned a myriad of shades such as intense fuchsias and cobalt to tinges of pearl, darker tones, and more. Like no other, its pieces represent Creative Director Glenn Marten’s vision of a distinctive identity.
Each article features intricate arrangements identifiable in their textile shaping footwear and garment material. These compositions highlight Y/Project’s call for (visual) distinction and merging of the masculine and feminine. The collection also featured Jean Paul Gaultier’s 1996 designs, conveying a lead-up to the duo’s upcoming haute couture collaboration.
The runway stage’s warehouse location with bright lines of demarcation against areas of grey exudes the brand’s contemporary nature and idiosyncrasy, also apparent in prior collections. These boundaries illustrate the need for separation and originality while synthesizing an established collective.
For its Spring/Summer 2022 collection as part of a collaboration with Fila, Y/PROJECT debuted an athleisurewear-focused line comprised of styles concentrated on a moiré of ruffles, knits, and comfortability. This construction’s visibility, part of its signature conceptualization, also embedded itself within the brand’s seasonal assemblage two years prior, which showcased elaborate and intentionally skewed configurations — divisional lines striking in all three.
