Yungblud Inks Historic Deal with ESPN College Football

This year’s college football soundtrack, “The Emperor,” is out now.

British rockstar Yungblud announced yesterday that his high-energy new single, “The Emperor,” was selected to be ESPN’s official College Football anthem for the upcoming 2022-23 season.

“The Emperor” is a fierce, spirited fight song, so it’s so surprise as to why ESPN chose it as this season’s anthem. “I wrote this song when I was seventeen, it was just an outburst of unfiltered energy that I knew would have its moment one day,” Yungblud said in a statement. “I played it live for years but never found the right time to release it until now. College football is such a massive part of American culture and all I ever want to do is bring energy to people, so I can’t wait for the song to bring that energy to the fans and the players at the games all season.”

Previous artists chosen to soundtrack ESPN’s college football campaign include Imagine Dragons, Juice WRLD, and Thirty Seconds To Mars.

The song’s release comes after Yungblud’s recently wrapped, sold-out European, Australian and New Zealand headlining tour, and before he embarks on the American and European festival circuit in the fall. “The Emperor” will also be featured on the deluxe edition of Yungblud’s highly anticipated self-titled studio LP, which comes out on Sept. 2 via Locomotion/Geffen Records.
