VMAN 38 cover star Zayn Malik is ramping up for the release of his sophomore album “Icarus Falls”. With much anticipation for the album’s release, Malik Releases “Good Years” with a lyric video giving fans just the fix they needed. The former One Directioner stepped out into his own spotlight in 2016 with debut album “Mind of Mine” and hasn’t looked back since. With such an ambitious project composed of 27 songs and features from Nicki Minaj and Justin Bieber, Malik seems to have found his rhythm as a solo artist. That independence comes through on his latest single “Good Years”. Serenading us with a vulnerable slow-tempo track recounting the good and not so “good” years he spent in the famed boy band.

Malik starts off singing “Nothing in the world could bring us down, (Bring us down, bring us down), Now we're so high among the stars without a worry” but the sweet nostalgia turns sour quickly. The song later addresses how Zayn wished he was anywhere but where he was and how he hopes he didn’t waste his good years. The “Pillowtalk” singer gets even more candid and shares what seemed to be a copping method for the unhappiness and pain he endured.  he say’s “Too much drugs and alcohol”

This single has definitely given a never before seen look into One Direction’s falling out and we can only hope Zayn continues this level of tranparanceny and vulnerability on the upcoming album “Icarus Falls”.
