Acne Studios Presents Season 3 of Repurposed Fabric Pieces

The Swedish fashion house adds an outdoorsy installment to their Repurposed series.

Acne Studios made headlines last year when they introduced the world to Repurposed, a series of capsule collections crafted from leftover fabrics. Today, the Stockholm-based fashion house revealed the third Repurposed capsule. Season three of Repurposed offers a selection of eye-catching outdoor apparel that encourages adventure. Punchy tie-dye designs infuse the recycled nylon fabric with youthful energy, while red/orange and green/yellow colorways set the line apart from your typical hiking fare.

The sustainable aspect of the collection extends beyond upcycling fabric. Acne Studios created the collection’s tie-dye patterns using environmentally certified dyes approved by the Global Organic Textile Standard. Meanwhile, the nylon used in the collection comes from three different varieties—ranging from a lightweight version to a cotton-blend ripstop—ensuring the right strength and durability for each piece.

Outdoorsy silhouettes with practical purpose reign supreme. Take, for example, a lava-colored cap with matching fabric to protect your neck from the sun. The five-panel cap’s fiery look is inspired by the appearance of anthracite. Plus, an adjustable drawstring ups its functionality. The accessory pairs nicely with the collection’s long and short hooded jackets, which feature arrow graphic details to further the collection’s orienteering theme.

Since the collection is intended to be seasonless, there are plenty of pieces suitable for warmer climates. One standout is the five-pocket shorts. The khaki green shorts can hold all your stuff (and then some). At the same time, their subtle yellow tie-dye rings add just the right amount of fashionable detail—without being as in-your-face as some of the other designs.

Short-sleeve fans can choose between a heavyweight button-up and an oversized t-shirt. The button-up offers the uniquely flexible fit of nylon fabric, while the shirt is crafted from comfortable cotton. With a bold shade of red, the button-up lends a pop of color to the basic shirt-and-sweats ensemble. It delivers the laid-back surfer vibes of a Hawaiian shirt without the tacky pattern. The oversized beige tee is similarly versatile. Though it’s styled with sweats in the pictures below, it would go just as nicely with jeans or khaki shorts.

Season three of Repurposed is a refreshingly mature take on tie-dye. Where other brands would reuse the nylon as-is, Acne Studios has transformed the fabric with fashion-forward designs. The result is a sustainable hiking collection that’s suited for all kinds of adventures.
