Celine Premieres “The Dancing Kid” For its Spring/Summer ‘21 Collection

“I just hit the lotto.”

Celine just premiered their online show “The Dancing Kid” for its menswear Spring/Summer ‘21 collection.

“The Dancing Kid,” a film inspired by adolescence, takes a look at today’s “Eboy” and current skate culture. Designer Hedi Slimane explores the confined youth and how boredom birthed a new culture in music like never before. The collection shows a candid portrait of this generation’s creativity, all while inventing a language anchored in dancing and teen romance.

This season, the French luxury brand showcased the collection on a race track, following models as they charge up and down the runway in helmets. The brand presents a more androgynous look, like some outfits layered with asymmetrical plaid tennis skirts. Overall, the collection explodes in color, from LED bomber jackets to knitted oversized sweaters, and even structured suits paired with dangling chains. There’s no doubt that Celine derived inspiration from this generation’s Eboys.

A week ago, the French luxury brand unveiled its latest project “The Dancing Kid” on Instagram following the news from earlier this year that the brand would showcase its menswear collection separately from fashion week.
